Contents & Yield

What’s inside?

Color Developer (CD) Part A/B/C, Bleach-Fix (BX) Part A/B, Stabilizer (SB).

Available in two variants: 1.2 L (6× 240 ml) and 2.5 L (6× 500 ml) – all parts in uniform bottle sizes.

How much does one kit process?

With optimal tank capacity and multiple use of the baths:

- up to 18 films (1.2 L)

– up to 40 films (2.5 L)

in 135-36/120 format.

Note: Actual capacity depends on tank load, agitation, and intermediate rinsing.

Temperature control: 38 °C standard, 30 °C alternative

Target temperature

Standard: 38 °C. Alternative: 30 °C (with longer processing times). Both profiles are included in the manual.

Accuracy

For the Color Developer (CD): maintain ±0.5 °C of the target temperature throughout development.

Bleach-Fix (BX) and Stabilizer (SB) are more tolerant (±1–2 °C) – but the rule applies: the more precise, the more consistent the results.

Keeping temperature stable – three methods

  • Water bath (basin/cooler/sink): preheat, insulate well, reheat if necessary.
  • Sous-vide stick: automatically keeps the water bath at the target temperature; widely available (kitchen/electronics stores, online).
  • Rotary processor (e.g., JOBO): heated jacket bath + constant agitation → maximum consistency, ideal for series processing.

Practical tips

  • Preheat chemistry, tank/drum, and water bath.
  • Check CD temperature right before pouring in.
  • timer as soon as the developer reaches the film.

Preparing working solutions (scaling made easy)

Mixing steps

Clear tables for 250 / 300 / 600 / 1200 / 2500 ml make scaling easy. With uniform bottle sizes for each part, there’s less need for conversion – but precise measuring (graduated cylinder) remains essential.

Keeping it clean

  • Follow the order and quantities exactly as in the manual; dissolve thoroughly without creating foam.
  • Use low-lime water whenever possible (demineralized water if needed).
  • Observe the minimum fill level of the tank/drum and avoid air bubbles.
  • Label clearly (date / volume / “fresh” vs. “used”).
Stop bath: when it makes sense

Purpose & place in the process

Optional stop bath between CD and BX: immediately halts development and reduces carryover into the Bleach-Fix.

Recommendation

For stable series with multiple reuse, recommended from the third run onwards. With one-shot use or up to two runs, usually not necessary.

Practical notes

  • After the stop bath, rinse briefly (as specified in the manual), then proceed to BX.
  • Work consistently: use the same times and agitation per batch to minimize drift.
Storage & Shelf life (concentrate & working solution)

Concentrates

Unopened: approx. 24 months. After opening: CD up to 3 months, BX/SB up to 6 months (store cool, dark, tightly sealed).

Working solutions

  • Freshly mixed: CD 6–8 weeks, BX/SB up to 24 weeks.
  • In use: CD 2–4 weeks, BX/SB up to 12 weeks.

Storage tips: Keep bottles as full as possible (minimize air), store cool & dark; use protective gas if needed. Replace if you notice unusual discoloration or loss of performance.
